Over the many season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, numerous queens have walked the runway, and many of them have made their distinct impressions on audiences. Their larger-than-life personalities vary considerably, and their zodiac signs also greatly effect how they act in the show.
While being a Virgo or an Aries doesn’t determine a contestant’s likelihood of winning the competition, it does gives audiences a better insight into how these queens think and react when faced with new challenges. That said, there are a few drag queens that notably embody their zodiac sign’s qualities.
Aries: Miss Fame
Miss Fame, even though she didn’t always do the best in Drag Race, kept a cheerful disposition and strove to be her best, which is what being an Aries is all about. Miss Fame is put together, and while she may play her character to be a bit ditsy at times, her outfits, makeup and hair all prove that she is well put together.
Taurus: Katya Zamolodchikova
Katya is considered one of the funniest RuPaul’s Drag Race queens of all time. As a Taurus, she values self-care and taking time to reflect. She is set in her routines and her character with a stage presence that oozes self-confidence, hilarity and, at times, gracefulness. She is still the only contestant on Drag Race to pull off a runway walk with a stuffed shark attached to her leg with the utmost elegance in her demeanor.
Gemini: Violet Chachki
Violet Chachki is a classic Gemini. While she is funny and outgoing sometimes, other times she has the air of Regina George from Mean Girls, except she’s also not very popular. Still, Violet is one of the youngest drag queens to win Drag Race, so she has the right to be focused on herself. While others may view her as a little two-faced, in reality, she’s just working on herself so she can be her best.
Cancer: Bianca Del Rio
Cancer queen, Bianco Del Rio is emotional in a motherly way toward other contestants. While she’s a comedian on the outside, on the inside she really is in touch with her feelings, and it makes her both relatable and extremely honest.
Although her dedication to Drag Race is never in question, the reason audiences love her is because of how genuinely kind and confident she is beneath her prickly exterior.
Leo: Kim Chi
Kim Chi likes all eyes on her, and she embodies that attitude being a Leo. She loves spending time with Naomi Smalls, her best friend from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and she practically radiates joy when she’s around others in any capacity. Leos are often theatrical and dramatic. As a drag queen, Kim Chi uses these qualities to improve her performances and impress the judges any way she can.
Virgo: Trixie Mattel
Trixie Mattel is a little bit high-strung, but she doesn’t let that get in the way of her creative pursuits and homage to her home. As a Virgo, Trixie likes to plan and organize so that she is prepared for whatever life (or Drag Race) throws her way. While she can sometimes get sidetracked by her own need to be a perfectionist, Trixie Mattel always knows how to handle herself under pressure, something that is made entirely apparent in her amazing Drag Race makeover transformation challenge with Pearl in season 7.
Libra: Phi Phi O’Hara
Phi Phi O’Hara is the essences of what it means to be a Libra. She is extroverted to the max and she has mastered her skills of persuasion on the show as she starts drama with different queens.
Phi Phi is bold, but she also loves using her strong personality to start new friendships and garner more attention. As an O’Hara she has a legacy to uphold and she knows well that her ability to understand and read other people is a skill that will get her far in the competition.
Everyone loves RuPaul on Drag Race, which makes sense considering she’s a Scorpio. Scorpios are mysterious and guarded, but also deeply passionate. RuPaul is an idol to so many contestants on the show, but she is never put in a situation where she is vulnerable. Her impeccable style and obvious love for the other queens are always at the forefront of her mind as is the Scorpio way.
Sagittarius: Darienne Lake
Being a Sagittarius means that Darienne Lake loves to speak her truth and she does so without fear or judgement. She’s a free spirit, as many Sagittarians are, and she is fine with being loud and sassy because she always wants to stay true to herself and her desires. As a plus-size beauty queen, she lets no one get in the way of her embracing her persona.
Capricorn: Alyssa Edwards
Infinitely quotable RuPaul’s Drag Race legend Alyssa Edwards, being the unabashed queen she is, embodies the work ethic of the Capricorn. She is fun-loving, but she didn’t go to RuPaul’s Drag Race to play around. She works tirelessly on her outfits, persona and her iconic tongue-pop that makes her ironically charming. Being a Capricorn means that Alyssa keeps her career goals in check, and she never stops or slows down.
Aquaria, named after her zodiac of course, was the winner of season 10 because of her unique style and laid-back attitude. Being an Aquarius means that she doesn’t like to fit in and she would never want to since standing out is what makes her so great. Her looks tend to be more alien-like, drawing on even more of her eccentric personality.
Alaska is not a typical, overly emotional Pisces. As a contestant on the show, Alaska proved herself to be an asset, and her comedy skills made her a fan-favorite. As a Pisces, Alaska constantly acts over the top to impress others, but also to make them smile because she deeply cares about the emotional states of others. She is loud and full of energy, but at her core, she keeps other peoples’ happiness as a priority in her life, just like any Pisces would.
